Itineraries
Day 1 (Embark)
Time : 12:00 am
Nice, France

Set between the beautiful Baie des Anges and the Alps, the sunny capital of la Côte d’Azur has long been admired for its beauty and sophistication. One of France’s oldest cities, Nice blends its urban verve with plenty of seaside charm, a fantastic local food scene and a heritage that’s steeped in pretty Italianate influences. In the narrow streets of Vieille Ville you’ll find charming piazzettas, cozy cafés, traditional stores and a famous flower and grocery market. Take a stroll in the Place Massena, the city’s impressive 19th century main square, or head to the iconic Promenade des Anglais, which showcases Belle Epoque grandeur alongside its lively beach scene. Take a seat at one of the promenade’s bistros and dine on some superb ‘cuisine niçoise’.
Day 2
Time : 9:00 am
Monte Carlo, Monaco

Perhaps no port of call is better designed to welcome a luxury yacht than Monte Carlo, where some of the most splendid vessels in the world make their home. At this playground for the rich and famous, the only thing more spectacular than the yachts filling the harbor are the luxury cars driving the winding streets that host the annual Grand Prix. Verdant mountains ascend abruptly behind the lavish high-rises lining the bay, and perched on the cliff is the Palace of the Prince, where the Changing of the Guard attracts onlookers each morning at 11:55. The nearby Cathedral of Monaco holds the tomb of beloved Princess Grace and other royalty. Prince Albert I founded the city’s remarkable oceanographic museum, once curated by Jacques Cousteau, and Prince Charles III established the elaborate Monte Carlo Casino, where high rollers try their luck and James Bond famously sips his martinis.

Day 4
Time : 8:00 am
Sanary-sur-Mer, France

With a fleet of colorful fishing boats bobbing along the quay, pastel-hued buildings and palm-fringed promenade, Sanary-sur-Mer is one of France’s most picturesque ports. The compact town, including its beaches, is easily navigated on foot but its unstudied charm is best captured over a glass of rose at a waterfront cafe. Sanary is also an ideal base for exploring Provence’s Var coast. Next door is Bandol, the coastal town at the heart of a tiny, highly-acclaimed wine appellation. On the nearby Iles des Embiez, pastis magnate and environmentalist Paul Ricard established an oceanographic institute, wildlife preserve and coastal trails. The bustling port city of Toulon, Mediterranean base for the French Navy, is a mere 8 miles east. Untamed nature can be found on the rugged, forested headlands of the Cap-Sicié and among the unique formations of the Parc National des Calanques.
Day 5
Time : 8:00 am
Sailing Time

The bustling capital of Arrecife is named for the black reefs behind which boats once hid from pirates. The dark, barren hills and vast craters of the island’s spectacular volcanic terrain can be explored by bus or 4x4, on foot or by camel, and nearby Timanfaya National Park is a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve. The island is also renowned for its stellar beaches. Manmade attractions include Castillo de San Gabriel, on a tiny islet facing town, and Castillo de San Jose, home to the contemporary art museum. Arrecife surrounds a natural lagoon known as Charco de San Ginés, lined with charming cottages and the pretty Church of San Ginés. A few miles north of Arrecife is the home of artist César Manrique, the island’s favorite son. Manrique left a lasting impact on the aesthetics of Lanzarote, from the absence of high-rise hotels to the trademark whitewashed houses with green or blue woodwork.
Day 6
Time : 7:00 am
Mahon, Menorca, Balearic Islands, Spain

The approach to Menorca reveals white houses clinging to rocks with a historic town rising above one of the world's largest natural harbors, used as a port since the 3rd century BC. King Island floats halfway in, featuring ruins of a 6th-century basilica. The streets of Menorca present an interesting blend of ancient treasures, such as the medieval wall of San Roque Arch and the relics in the Museu de Menorca, and more recent gems, including the grand Georgian homes that remain from the British occupation of the island. The city's rich history is also reflected in its varied cuisine. A local cheese is named for Menorca, and the island is said to be the birthplace of mayonnaise. Hiking or biking a section of the Cami de Cavalls, the ancient path encircling the island, reveals Menorca’s remarkable scenery, and the open-air museum of megalithic monuments begs to be explored.
Day 7
Time : 9:00 am
Palma de Mallorca, Balearic Islands, Spain

The capital of the Balearic Islands, beautiful Palma is famous for La Seu, the massive Cathedral of Santa Maria overlooking the bay. The adjacent Alumdaina Palace has been a royal residence since the 14th century, and the Gothic-style Bellver Castle houses the city's history museum. The Juan March Foundation Museum boasts a permanent collection of 70 works by the most important Spanish vanguard artists of the 20th century. Beachgoers will find abundant options offering water sports, sailing, horseback riding and more, and shoppers should check out Avenue Jaime III and the tree-lined Passeig del Born. The rest of Mallorca holds plenty of appeal as well, from the Carthusian monastery where George Sand and Frédéric Chopin once stayed to the remarkable stalactites of the underground lake known as Cuevas del Drach.
Day 8
Barcelona, Spain

Barcelona is a true global city of breathtaking architecture, countless world-class museums, bustling markets, colorful parks and high-end fashion. This town is big but perfectly discoverable on foot. Imposing Montjuïc Castle is a good starting point for a stunning panorama of the city, and the renowned Joan Miró museum and Catalonian national art museum are also in the area. One might fill an entire day strolling amidst the 12th- and 13th-century architecture of the Gothic Quarter and then checking out the extensive collection of the Museu Picasso. But Barcelona may be most renowned for the unmistakable imprint made on the city by architect Antoní Gaudi, from the spectacular unfinished church of La Sagrada Família to the whimsical Park Güell. More of his work can be found along tree-lined La Rambla, one of the world’s most famous promenades and the perfect place to experience the striking architecture, designer shopping and delicious tapas of the city.
